Toronto (November 21, 2018) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) joins the Simon Wiesenthal Center in denouncing Airbnb’s decision to ban listings in Jewish communities in the West Bank.
“Airbnb has unfortunately succumbed to the antisemitic BDS movement, which targets Israeli Jews while empowering extremists and terrorists who are seeking the demise of Israel’s Jewish communities,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “This decision surely cannot foster any peace amongst people and cannot create cooperation and intermingling.
“Until Airbnb recognizes that it is supporting a discriminatory practice and ceases its boycott of Jewish home listings, the company no longer has our support.”
FSWC sent a letter to Airbnb today disputing the company’s decision, stating that “it’s incomprehensible to understand how a company that might maintain listings in many 'disputed' areas around the globe can set forth a policy targeting Jewish neighbourhoods."
