Alberta Man Charged After Displaying Money Stamped with Antisemitic Messages

Toronto (August 8, 2018) - Friends of Simon WiesenthalCenter (FSWC) commends Medicine Hat police for laying charges after a localbusiness reported a man displaying money stamped with antisemitic messages.

The 35-year-old man was arrestedand charged for inciting hatred in public after police discovered $5 and $20bills stamped with messages such as “Jews = ESAU, Jewish White Genocide” and a link to an antisemitic website that promotesconspiracy theories against Jewish people.

“Any display of such hatefulmessaging is unacceptable, so we are pleased to learn that police were quick torespond to the report and lay charges,” said FSWC President and CEO AviBenlolo. “The business that filed the report must be commended as well, as whatmay have appeared to be just a case of inciting hate turned into an even moreserious case consisting of numerous charges.”

Following a search atthe accused’s home, police also discovered white supremacy documents, high capacity magazines and hate stickers displaying“Immigration = White Genocide,” firearms and ammunition.
