Toronto (January 17, 2019) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) condemns the recruitment campaign launched by an anti-Israel group, Students Against Israeli Apartheid (SAIA), at York University.

Yesterday, an SAIA recruitment poster and a table promoting the anti-Israel group – which continuously promotes the antisemitic Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel – were seen at the university.

“While student groups like SAIA may attempt to recruit more students to support their hateful campaigns against Israel, they will not go very far as BDS is a failing movement,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “Regardless, groups that spew hateful and biased views and make other students feel unsafe and unwelcome should not have a presence on campus.”

FSWC continues to track anti-Israel and antisemitic incidents on campuses and will remain vigilant – particularly as Israeli Apartheid Week makes its way to campuses.
