Starting tonight on Yom HaShoah, we take a moment to remember the 6 million Jewish men, women and children who perished in the Holocaust and honour the survivors and heroes. To mark the day, community leaders shared their messages of remembrance and hope.
FSWC Marks Holocaust Remembrance Day with Care Packages to Holocaust Survivors
FSWC is marking Yom HaShoah by distributing care packages to local Holocaust survivors. "For the first time since the Holocaust, we have been unable as a community to prepare for a public memorial...and this to a large measure has isolated many survivors and their extended families," said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. "By providing them with a small care package, we wanted to express our love and admiration for them and to tell them that they are not alone."
FSWC Saddened by Deaths in Senseless Shooting Rampage in Nova Scotia
FSWC is saddened by news that at least 19 people were killed in the senseless shooting rampage that occurred in Portapique, Nova Scotia over the weekend. The mass shooting is considered the deadliest in Canadian history. One of the identified victims was an RCMP officer, Const. Heidi Stevenson.
Violent Antisemitic Crimes Worldwide Reached 5-Year Record in 2019
According to a report presented earlier today by the European Jewish Congress and Kantor Center for the Study of Contemporary European Jewry, the number of documented violent antisemitic crimes rose to 456 last year - the highest number of cases since 2014. More than a quarter of the violent cases were threats, while the rest involved physical violence.

Massachusetts Man Charged with Trying to Blow Up Jewish Nursing Home
A Massachusetts man was recently arrested by federal agents and accused of trying to blow up a Jewish assisted living facility. According to a complaint written by a special agent, investigators has discovered a white supremacist organization on a social media platform in March targeting a Jewish nursing home in Longmeadow, Massachusetts where the facility is located.
