Aboud Dandachi: The Syrian Refugee Who Became a Passionate Advocate for Israel

Yesterday FSWC's Avi Benlolo sat down with Aboud Dandachi, a former Syrian refugee living in Toronto, to discuss his experiences growing up in the Middle East and being subjected to antisemitic, anti-Israel propaganda and how his views of Israel changed during the civil war in Syria.

SWC: DeBlasio’s Stereotyping of City’s Jews During Pandemic Could Fuel Anti-Semitism; Blasts Members of Jewish Community Who Flaunted Rules at Funeral

“Mayor DeBlasio has contributed to dangerous stereotyping of all New York Jewry by his outburst. Instead of castigating the world’s largest Jewish community in the world, he should be out in the community—all segments of a diverse community to encourage and cajole every New Yorker to heed the guidelines,” Mark Weitzman and Michael Cohen, two top senior Simon Wiesenthal Center officials based in New York, said in a statement in response to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio singling out the Jewish community in a tweet about social distancing violations.


In a tweet, FSWC's Avi Benlolo stated, "Given rising violent antisemitism in New York with murders, the targeting of the Jewish community specifically and publicly further endangers the community and fuels antisemitism."

FSWC Reaches Out to Police After Toronto Magazine Suggests 'Zionists' Are Behind the Spread of Coronavirus

FSWC has submitted a complaint to Toronto Police’s Hate Crimes Unit after a local magazine published an article suggesting Jews were deliberately spreading the coronavirus. As first reported by the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, the Toronto-based Islamic newsmagazine Crescent published an article speculating that the rapid spread of coronavirus in China and Iran could be the result of “Zionists” and Americans dropping the virus over the country using drones.

Israel at 72: A Country Under Curfew Salutes Those Fighting the Coronavirus

With Israel's 72nd Independence Day events cancelled due to the lockdown, the Israeli Air Force gave a modest sky-high salute to medical workers on the frontlines fighting the coronavirus pandemic. In some areas, the country's army and security agencies also paraded jeeps and emergency vehicles by homes as people remained home.
