Netanyahu: 'Iran Lied' About Not Pursuing Nuclear Weapons
Speaking at the Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv today during a live speech broadcast, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel had obtained 100,000 secret Iranian documents that prove Iran worked on developing nuclear weapons for years, even after signing the 2015 nuclear deal.
Inaugural Canadian Jewish Heritage Month Begins as Data Shows Hate Crimes Against Jewish Community on The Rise
As hate crimes against the Jewish community continue to rise in Ontario, Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center is encouraging Canadians to download its new Resource Guidebook launched in time for Jewish Heritage Month. This May is the first time Jewish Heritage Month will be honoured in Canada, as recognized by the Canadian government. The Resource Guidebook is especially critical at a time when the number of hate crimes against the Jewish community continue to rise.
Thousands Attend Vigil to Honour Victims of Toronto Van Attack
Thousands of people converged on Mel Lastman Square yesterday evening to honour the 10 people killed and 16 injured following Monday’s van attack, the deadliest mass killing in Toronto’s modern history. Religious leaders of various faiths spoke and musicians performed on stage during the vigil, which followed a march. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Toronto Mayor John Tory, FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo, and thousands of others were in attendance to pay tribute and show solidarity.
Teens Charged After Racist and Antisemitic Graffiti Found in Ottawa Neighbourhood
FSWC commends Ottawa Police Service for taking quick action against the suspects after racist and antisemitic graffiti was discovered in the neighbourhood of Old Ottawa East. On Sunday morning, residents woke up to find several homes, cars and a playground tagged with graffiti, which included the N-word and swastikas. At least one car also had its windows smashed.

Paraguayan President Pledges to Move Embassy to Jerusalem
During a special event to mark Israel’s 70th anniversary in Paraguay's capital, Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes announced he would like to move the country's embassy to Jerusalem before he leaves office in August. Other countries, including the Czech Republic, Romania and Honduras, have also spoken of moving embassies to Jerusalem, but final approvals have not yet been given.
More Than 70 Countries Commit to Combat Terror Financing
On Thursday, more than 70 countries committed to increasing efforts to combat terrorism financing associated with the Islamic State and al-Qaida. This came during a two-day international conference initiated by French President Emmanuel Macron to coordinate efforts to reduce the threat of terrorism. Experts and ministers also called for better information sharing and agreed to improve the traceability of funds going to non-governmental organizations.

Twenty-five people, including nine journalists, were killed today following two Islamic State suicide bombings in the capital city of Kabul in Afghanistan. At least another 45 people were wounded in the attacks. According to police, a few hours later in the southern Kandahar province, a suicide car bombing targeting a NATO convoy killed 11 children.
