New Human Rights Commissioner Resigns Before Starting Role

Birju Dattani, who was appointed as the chief commissioner of the Canadian Human Rights Commission, has resigned following the Justice Department's investigation into his past anti-Israel activity.

In a statement, the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Senior Director of Policy and Advocacy Jaime Kirzner-Roberts said the Canadian government must "commit to a more diligent vetting process to ensure that the next appointed CHRC chief commissioner meets the high expectations of Canadians."

Police Investigating After Swastika Burned into Grass at Whitby, Ont. Soccer Field

Police are investigating after a swastika was found burned into the grass at a park in Whitby last week. Whitby Mayor Elizabeth Roy condemned the incident "in the strongest possible terms" in a statement issued over the weekend.
