Multiple Jewish Organizations, Hospitals Across Canada Receive Identical Bomb Threats

Police in multiple cities across Canada are responding to bomb threats that were sent to Jewish organizations, synagogues and some hospitals this morning. "For many, many months, Canada’s Jewish community has raised alarm bells about the escalation of rampant Jew-hatred, as incitement and hateful rhetoric have become normalized online, on our city streets and on our university and college campuses. Repeated calls for violence against Jews and Jewish institutions are a stark reminder that extremism and radicalization are thriving in Canada and must be confronted before it’s too late. The time for our leaders to step up is now."

CUPE Ontario President Expresses 'Regret' After Social Media Post

After reposting an antisemitic video on Facebook, CUPE Ontario President Fred Hahn issued a statement on Sunday saying, "Recently I posted a video on this platform, which I understand caused pain for some who viewed it. I have removed it from my feed because I deeply regret any such reaction."  Employment and human rights lawyer Kathryn Marshall, who's representing one of the 80 Jewish CUPE members who have filed a human rights complaint against Hahn, said, "This apology is NOT accepted. It is disingenuous and forced."

"An insincere and insufficient apology from CUPE Ontario President Fred Hahn," said FSWC in an online post. "Given the repeated harm his words and actions have caused to the Jewish community, Hahn must be replaced by someone who can represent all CUPE members. CUPE National, the ball is in your court."
