More than 10 election signs in Aurora, Ont. were found vandalized with hateful graffiti, including swastikas and the word "Nazis," yesterday morning.
"Sickening to see yet more vandalism of candidate campaign signs," FSWC President and CEO Michael Levitt wrote in an online post. " Let’s be clear, the use of the swastika is hate pure and simple and it has no place in our democracy. It demeans the memory of every single victim of the Nazis."
Extremist Groups ‘Actively Recruiting’ Military and Police, Canadian Intelligence Report Warns
Far-right extremist groups are “actively recruiting” past and present members of the military and police, according to a declassified Canadian intelligence report obtained by Global News. The report cited 17 examples in Canada, the U.S., U.K., Germany and New Zealand.
This report confirms concerns FSWC has been raising for some time, including some military members' involvement in hate groups and recruitment by extremist groups. FSWC remains in ongoing dialogue with the Canadian Armed Forces about these concerns and strategies to address them.
Archaeologists Unearth Nazi-Era Massacre in Poland’s ‘Death Valley’
Archaeological excavations near Chojnice, Poland have uncovered physical evidence of a massacre of Polish resistance fighters that took place in the forests of northern Poland. Victims’ jewelry, bullet casings, burnt human bones and more were recovered after a team from the Polish Academy of Sciences’s Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology used everything from archival documents and interviews with survivors to laser scans and excavations.
