Why Stretching the Definition of the Holocaust Is Wrong

Yesterday, the Ottawa Citizen published a rebuttal by FSWC's Dan Panneton and Elena Kingsbury to a shameful opinion piece published in the newspaper last week, titled "Ottawa’s National Holocaust Monument must include Ukrainians," which promoted Holocaust distortion and disinformation. "At a time when antisemitism and the distortion and even outright denial of the Holocaust are on the rise, this argument distorts the history of the genocide and the definition of the Holocaust," Panneton and Kingsbury write. "Such co-option of Jewish suffering cannot go unchallenged."

Google Fixes Leading Definition of 'Jew' After Search Engine Results Showed Offensive Slur

Google apologized and said it has fixed the search results for the word "Jew" after an offensive definition of the word, which cited Oxford Languages as a source and characterized the term as a verb, was appearing as the top result.

Jewish Family Doctor Receives Letter Containing Antisemitic Death Threat

Brighton, Ontario-based family doctor Dr. Michelle Cohen was recently the recipient of a letter that referenced an antisemitic conspiracy theory coupled with a death threat. This comes as an Ottawa doctor continues to receive vile antisemitic messages and threats over email.

Michael Marrus, Noted Historian and Scholar of the Holocaust, Dead at 81

Michael Marrus authored eight books on Jewish history, was the first person to hold the Chancellor Rose and Ray Wolfe Chair of Holocaust Studies at the University of Toronto, and was a member of the Order of Canada. He died on December 23 at the age of 81, leaving behind his wife, three children and three grandchildren.
