FSWC Advocacy Efforts Successful in Removing Nazi Items From Auction
Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center reached out to the auction site Hibid.com earlier today with concerns about a number of Nazi memorabilia items for sale in Quebec, which included pins, small statues and hats bearing the swastika and other Nazi symbols. Hibid.com has since confirmed to FSWC that it has removed all of the Nazi items from auction.
FSWC Presses Police to Lay Hate Charges Against Ontario White Supremacist
Police have launched a hate speech investigation after FSWC brought evidence to police of a campaign of online antisemitic hate perpetuated by an Ontario man. FSWC remains in active communication with law enforcement about the case and continues to advocate for an aggressive and determined investigation that will result in a successful conviction.
Vancouver City Council Applauded for Passing Motion to Officially Recognize International Holocaust Remembrance Day
The motion, which was submitted by Councillor Sarah Kirby-Yung and unanimously passed yesterday, calls for International Holocaust Remembrance Day to be added to Vancouver’s official observances calendar as well as for the city to acknowledge the day with a proclamation.
On International Day Against the Use of Child Soldiers, Children of Gaza Continue to Be Taught to Commit Violence Against Israel
Today on the International Day Against the Use of Child Soldiers, Hamas and other terrorist organizations continue to use children for combat and indoctrination purposes in their ongoing campaign of violence against Israel. Children are taught to wage violence against Israelis through military drills, parades and skills training exercises at both schools and summer camps, while children’s television programs in Gaza openly promote violence against Jews and teach children to aspire to martyrdom.
Record Number of Antisemitic Incidents Logged in Britain, Again
According to the Community Security Trust, the number of antisemitic incidents recorded in Britain last year hit record levels, increasing by 7% to a total of 1,805 incidents. The main reason for the overall increase was a sharp rise in online antisemitism as well as assaults.
White Supremacist Propaganda Hits Record High in US
Distribution of white supremacist propaganda doubled in the US in 2019, reaching an all-time high, according to the Anti-Defamation League. In 2019, there were 2,713 recorded cases, compared to 1,214 in 2018, with some 630 reported on college and university campuses.
