Feds Looking at Declaring Proud Boys a Terrorist Organization in Wake of U.S. Rioting

According to Bill Blair, Canada's Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Canadian national security officials are actively gathering intelligence about extremist groups such as Proud Boys, which could soon be added to the country's list of organized terrorist organizations.

Following the organization's long-standing work with Canada's law enforcement and military, FSWC is pleased to see the federal government actively monitoring extremist groups and supports immediate action to help ensure such groups are unable to promote or commit violent and hateful acts.

Antisemitism Seen in Capitol Insurrection Raises Alarms

The presence of antisemitic symbols and sentiment at the Capitol riot - whether it was a man seen wearing a shirt emblazoned with “Camp Auschwitz” or a video circulated on social media showing a man harassing an Israeli journalist outside the building - raised alarms among Jewish Americans and experts who track discrimination and see it as part of an ongoing, disturbing trend.

European Commission Publishes IHRA Antisemitism Definition Handbook

The European Commission has published a new handbook for governments and EU agencies to utilize the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism. The handbook provides guidance for how the definition can be used practically to combat antisemitism. Simon Wiesenthal Center's Mark Weitzman was one of the key contributors towards the new handbook.

UNRWA-Produced Educational Materials Promote Terrorism, Libel: Study

According to a new study, which looked at 122 booklets issued by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), educational materials oftentimes reference or borrow word-by-word "texts and phrases from the PA textbook that glorify violence" and martyrdom.

FSWC recently reached out to the office of Canada's Minister of International Development expressing concern over its commitment to increasing funding to UNRWA despite ongoing questions about the agency's accountability and transparency and continuing reports of antisemitic incitement being taught to Palestinian students in UNRWA-funded schools.

"I Love Life": Agnes Keleti, Holocaust Survivor and Oldest Olympic Champion, Reflects on 100th Birthday

Agnes Keleti, the oldest surviving Olympic champion with an incredible story of survival and triumphs, turned 100 years old on January 9. Although she didn't get the chance to compete in the Olympics until she was 31 years old because of the war - during which was forced to go into hiding and lost family members who were killed at Auschwitz and other concentration camps - she went on to win 10 Olympic medals and become Hungary's most-decorated female Olympian ever.
