Jewish Group Calls for 'Disgusting' Online Sale of Nazi-Era Items to Be Stopped

Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center has reached out to the owner of an auction house near Aylmer, Ont. calling for the removal of Nazi memorabilia from its online auction. Hundreds of military items went up for sale last week, including Nazi memorabilia such as matchboxes, pennants, arm bands, buckles, post cards and flags, among other items, many of which display the swastika symbol or an image of Adolf Hitler.

Ahead of Court Verdict, Former SS Guard Apologizes to Holocaust Victims

Bruno Dey, a former Nazi concentration camp guard accused of complicity in the murder of 5,230 people when he worked at the Stutthof camp, apologized to Holocaust victims at a Hamburg court on Monday, stating "something like this must never happen again." The court is expected to issue its verdict on Thursday, with prosecutors seeking three years in jail for the 93-year-old.

Holocaust Survivor Morris Schnitzer Lived by His Wits While on the Run from the Nazis for Five Years

Learning to milk cows saved Morris Schnitzer’s life. A young German Jewish refugee, he worked in a farmstead in Friesland, a rural province in the Northeast Netherlands, from 1939 to 1940, before the invasion of the country. That was the beginning of his five-year odyssey to avoid capture by the Nazis, who never stopped hunting him. During this time, he adopted multiple fake identities and survived through many narrow escapes. After the war, he immigrated to Canada, where he got an education and became a respected soil scientist. He died in Ottawa on June 9 at the age of 98.

Tel Aviv, Jerusalem Tie for 6th Place in Tech Rankings

Tel Aviv and Jerusalem together came in sixth place in a ranking of the most attractive ecosystems for startups and innovation. The survey came from technology research firm Startup Genome, which has been ranking startup ecosystems since 2012. The firm looked at 150 cities worldwide.
