'Enough Is Enough,' Say Jewish Groups After Rock Smashes Synagogue Window in London, Ont.

Jewish groups are condemning an act of vandalism at a London, Ont. synagogue, calling it deeply troubling and demanding action from police and politicians. "It doesn't seem that there's any place that is safe from the wave of antisemitic hatred ... washing over us here in Canada," said Jaime Kirzner-Roberts, FSWC's senior director of advocacy and policy. "We've heard a lot of nice words from politicians at all levels about how they stand against hatred, they stand against antisemitism, and that's great, but it's been clear for a while now that the problem is escalating."

Canadian Government Lists Iran’s IRGC as Terrorist Organization

FSWC is pleased to learn that the Canadian government has listed Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization under the Criminal Code. This follows years of advocacy by Jewish groups, including FSWC, other human rights organizations and many in the Iranian Canadian community demanding that the IRGC, a branch of the Iranian armed forces, be added to Canada’s list of recognized terrorist groups.

McGill University Ending Negotiations with Pro-Palestinian Encampment

McGill University announced Tuesday it is ending negotiations with pro-Palestinian activists who have occupied the lower field of its downtown Montreal campus since late April. The university said it is also planning disciplinary action against people participating in the encampment, which could include expulsion of McGill students.

University of Toronto Tells Court Pro-Palestinian Encampment Took Control of Front Campus

Lawyer Monique Jilesen has begun laying out the University of Toronto's arguments in seeking an injunction to clear the encampment in the area known as King’s College Circle. She says protesters have set up a gate to enter and are screening people before allowing them inside, meaning those who don’t agree with the protest or its guidelines aren’t able to access the area as they could before.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) say they have arrested a 37-year-old Quebec man for 3D-printing a firearm and sharing hateful antisemitic comments toward Jewish people on the social messaging app Telegram.

AI Could Help Spread False and Misleading Information on Holocaust, UNESCO Report Warns

A report published Tuesday by UNESCO concludes that AI could result in false and misleading claims about the Holocaust spreading online. One of the biggest concerns is that AI could be used to create so-called deepfakes of the Holocaust — realistic images or videos that could be used to suggest the Holocaust didn’t happen or was exaggerated.

Holocaust survivor Margot Friedländer is the cover star of Vogue Germany‘s July/August issue, which is also the publication’s collector’s issue, dedicated to love. "She, 102 years old, who was betrayed, deported to a concentration camp, traumatized, meets people openly and forgivingly and is vehemently committed to mutual respect.
