Wiesenthal Centre Reveals 12,000 Names of Nazis in Argentina, Many of Whom Apparently Had Accounts Transferred toCredit Suisse

A list of some 12,000 names of Nazis in Argentina - many of whom had contributed to one or more bank accounts at Credit Suisse bank - was recently shared with the Simon Wiesenthal Centre. In a letter to the Credit Suisse vice-president, the Centre stated: “We believe very probable that these dormant accounts hold monies looted from Jewish victims, under the Nuremberg Aryanization laws of the 1930s...We are aware that you already have claimants as alleged heirs of Nazis in the list.” The Centre requested access to the Credit Suisse archives to settle this matter on behalf of the diminishing number of Holocaust survivors.

York University Cancels Antisemitic, Homophobic Speaker

York University has agreed to Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center’s (FSWC) request to cancel an on-campus event featuring Ustadh Daniel Haqiqatjou who is known for antisemitic and homophobic rhetoric. Over the past year, Haqiqatjou has claimed that “Zionists control every level of US government” and called on Muslim countries around the world to adopt a policy of punishing gays and lesbians by stoning them to death.

Appearance of Anti-Israel Activist Norman Finkelstein Cancelled at McMaster University

Less than two weeks after FSWC sent a letter to McMaster University President David Farrar calling for action against Norman Finkelstein speaking on campus, the student group Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights announced that the Israeli Apartheid Week event featuring Finkelstein has been cancelled.

Medicine Hat Man Charged with Wilfully Promoting Hatred Pleads Guilty

FSWC notes that a man arrested last year for attempting to circulate money stamped with antisemitic slogans in Medicine Hat, Alberta has pleaded guilty to wilfully promoting hatred. In August 2018, Medicine Hat Police Service laid charges against Loki Hulgaard after a local business reported he displayed money with the antisemitic slogans “Jewish White Genocide” and “ZOG” (Zionist Occupied Government) printed on it.

Israel Left in Political Limbo Again After 3rd Election in Less Than a Year

With nearly all votes counted from Israel's third election in less than a year, the Likud party led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu holds on to a solid lead with 36 seats and a backing of 58 of the 120 incoming members of parliament, but falls three votes short of the parliamentary majority needed to form a government.

Austrian Parliament Unanimously Passes Condemnation of Anti-Israel Boycotts

Last week, the Austrian parliament unanimously passed a resolution urging the government to "condemn the BDS movement and its goals, especially the call for a boycott of Israeli products, businesses, artists, scientists or athletes." The resolution states that Vienna should not provide any infrastructure to organizations that make antisemitic statements or question Israel’s right to exist, as well as calls upon the government to not support events organized by the BDS movement.

Vatican Opens Archives of Pope Pius XII, Who Remained Silent During the Holocaust

For the first time ever, researchers have been granted access to the Vatican's archives on Pope Pius XII - head of the Catholic Church from 1939 to 1958 - who had been accused of staying silent during the Nazi extermination of Jews in the Holocaust.
