Saskatoon Students Learn About Genocide Through Travelling Education Program

Last week, FSWC's Tour for Humanity mobile education centre visited schools in Saskatoon to teach students about the Holocaust, genocide and Canada's human rights history. During a visit to Bishop James Mahoney High School, students learned about the concept and history of genocide, with the program discussing the Holocaust, Holodomor and the Armenian, Bosnian and Rwandan genocides. Tour for Humanity Director Daniella Lurion discussed the importance of this learning experience with CTV News.

This week, the bus continues its journey through Western Canada, visiting schools in Calgary for the first time.

Second Vandalism Incident at North York Synagogue Investigated as Hate Crime

Toronto police are investigating after the windows and doors of Kehillat Shaarei Torah were smashed last week, one month after the same Toronto synagogue's windows were destroyed by an individual with a hammer. "We are utterly horrified by this repeat attack," FSWC said in an online post. "Jews deserve to feel safe at their places of worship, and not be targeted with such acts of violence."

Fredericton police arrested a 16-year-old female after a 14-year-old Israeli teen was violently attacked near her high school. This was the culmination of months of escalating tension at the school after October 7.

TDSB Investigating Incident of Alleged Antisemitism at North York School Following Community Rally

The Toronto District School Board is investigating an incident that sparked a community rally outside a North York school Friday morning in support of a Jewish student. While a letter sent home to parents from the principal said it was reported to administrators that "a small group of students were throwing stones, among other items, at each other at various times during the day," rally attendees said a student was targeted because he is Jewish and the victim of antisemitism and bullying.

Israel responded angrily Monday after members of the UN Security Council and the UN’s nuclear watchdog honoured the late Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi, who was killed in a helicopter crash a day earlier. "This body, which makes no effort to free our hostages, tipped their heads today to a man who was responsible for the deaths of thousands in Iran, in Israel, and around the world," said Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan.
