Barrage of Rockets from Gaza Target Innocent Civilians in Israel

FSWC stands with the State of Israel as it faces a barrage of rocket attacks from Gaza and is calling on the international community, including leaders in Canada and Europe, to condemn terror groups in Gaza and their violent crimes against innocent Israeli civilians. According to reports, more than 300 rockets have been launched from Gaza since Tuesday morning.

Swastika Graffiti Appears in St. John’s East End

FSWC is aware of swastikas, appearing as the Hindu version of the symbol, spray painted in the St. John’s east end. “The motive behind the swastikas is questionable. I am doubtful the individual behind the graffiti was looking to spread a message of peace,” said FSWC president and CEO Avi Benlolo.

FSWC Marks Remembrance Day Through Education

On Remembrance Day, FSWC joined Canadians in remembering and honouring the country's veterans and fallen soldiers, including by bringing the Tour for Humanity and Leadership workshop as well as welcoming a local veteran to a school in Toronto for its Remembrance Day ceremony. During the workshop, FSWC's Avi Benlolo spoke to the group of students about the importance of preserving our human rights and freedom. He explained that wearing the poppy is a commitment to remembering the sacrifices vets have made to preserve our freedom as well as an expression of support for standing on guard for Canada and preserving our way of life.

Antisemitism 'Neither Human or Christian,' Says Pope Francis

Departing from prepared remarks as he addressed worshippers in Rome, Pope Francis condemned antisemitism and described the persecution of Jews as "neither human or Christian." His comments come after an 89-year-old Auschwitz survivor was placed on police protection after receiving antisemitic threats in Italy.

Jews Again Were the Victims of Most of the Religion-Based Hate Crimes in 2018, FBI Says

According to the FBI's annual hate crimes report, while hate crimes against American Jews decreased 11% overall last year, 58% of religion-based hate crime incidents last year targeted Jewish people. Hate crime murders totaled 24 - the highest number since the FBI began tracking statistics in 1991.

EU’s Top Court Rules That Settlement Foods Must Be Labelled

The European Court of Justice has ruled that EU countries must oblige retailers to identify products made in Israeli settlements with special labels. "The politicized EU ruling that Jews must label products is another way to try and undermine, marginalize and isolate the Jewish State. It is economic discrimination - a form of racism - that we have witnessed throughout the history of antisemitism," said FSWC's Avi Benlolo.
