Tens of Thousands Show Up to Commemorate October 7 in Toronto

As roughly 20,000 Canadian Jews and allies gathered in the heart of Toronto’s Jewish community, at Bathurst St. and Sheppard Ave., there was an undertone of hope. Hope that the remaining 101 hostages would be returned. Hope for the families still grieving the loss of loved ones.

Vancouver Police Probe Oct. 7 Rally Where ‘Death to Canada’ Cry Went Up

Vancouver Police say they are conducting an investigation into an anti-Israel protest marking the Oct. 7 anniversary of the Hamas attacks on Israel where they say speakers expressed “solidarity with terrorist groups.” The rally at the Vancouver Art Gallery, organized by the group Samidoun, included a masked speaker who told the crowd “we are Hezbollah and we are Hamas,” and she also led cries of “death to Canada, death to the United States and death to Israel.”

A Year Later, Canada’s Jews Are Not the Same

"Over the past year, Jews in Canada have been shocked by the relentless targeting of our community, with frequent physical attacks on our synagogues, schools, community centres and Jewish-owned businesses. Not to mention the vile antisemitism Jewish students at Canadian universities have repeatedly faced since last fall," writes FSWC President and CEO Michael Levitt in his latest column in the Toronto Star. "Far be it for me to question the right to protest, which is sacred in any democratic society. But too often at anti-Israel demonstrations, we’ve witnessed something else entirely. Victims of Communism Memorial Faces Call to Remove Over 330 Names Linked to Nazis, Fascists

The Department of Canadian Heritage is being told that more than half of the 550 names on the Memorial to the Victims of Communism should be removed because of potential links to the Nazis or questions about affiliations with fascist groups, according to government records.

2 Men Arrested for Inciting Hatred, Publicly Waving Hezbollah Flags

Two men have been charged with public incitement of hatred after they were seen waving Hezbollah flags at a demonstration in downtown Toronto. Toronto police said they disengaged with the suspects due to the large size of the crowd and public safety concerns, but later caught up with them.

Two Killed in Kiryat Shmona, Several Hurt in Haifa as Hezbollah Rockets Batter North

Two people were killed in a rocket attack on the border town of Kiryat Shmona Wednesday, as Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets into northern Israel, on the same day that also saw five people injured in a large rocket barrage on Haifa.
