The Peace Treaties Between the UAE, Bahrain and Israel Are Signed

Yesterday marked a historic day as Israel signed agreements with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain to normalize ties and advance peace. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Bahrain's Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al Zayani and UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed signed the agreements during a ceremony hosted by President Donald Trump outside the White House. Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center congratulates the three countries on this incredible achievement and is hopeful that more countries in the region will follow suit.

Army Commander Vows to Issue Special Order to Weed Out Extremists in the Ranks

Lt.-Gen. Wayne Eyre, commander of the Canadian army, told CBC News that he plans to issue a special order that will give individual army units across the country "explicit direction" on how to deal with soldiers suspected of hateful conduct and extremism. "This is the first time that we have seen some real positive momentum with respect to addressing the issue of extremist and white supremacist activity in the military," said FSWC's Jaime Kirzner-Roberts. "We are hopeful that this momentum will continue in the Navy and in the Air Force and other places within our Armed Forces."

Survey Finds 'Shocking' Lack of Holocaust Knowledge Among Millennials and Gen Z

A 50-state survey of Holocaust knowledge among millennials and Generation Z that was released earlier today revealed that 63% of those surveyed did not know that 6 million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust and over one in 10 could not recall ever having heard the word "Holocaust" before.

Navid Afkari: Iran Executes Young Wrestler Despite Global Outcry

Despite many calls to stop the execution of Navid Afkari, an Iranian wrestling champion who was accused of murder following his participation in anti-government protests in 2018, state media announced that he was executed by hanging on Saturday.

FSWC President and CEO Michael Levitt spoke out against the execution of Afkari on social media, stating, "Horrific news about the execution of Navid Afkari in Iran. Let this cruel and brutal act be testament to the ongoing human rights abuses and repression of the Iranian regime and let Navid’s memory forever inspire the many brave Iranians who continue to raise their voices for justice and freedom."

Germany Suspends Dozens of Police Officers for Neo-Nazi Chat Messages

Twenty-nine German police officers were suspended Wednesday for participating in extremist chat groups that shared 126 images with content punishable by law - including swastikas, a depiction of a refugee in a gas chamber and pictures of Hitler - in the latest neo-Nazi scandal to engulf the country's military and law enforcement.
