Barrie City Council Adopts IHRA Definition of Antisemitism
Barrie City Council unanimously voted to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism Monday evening.
In a letter sent to Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman, FSWC President and CEO Michael Levitt thanked the mayor and Barrie City Council for adopting the IHRA definition of antisemitism, stating, "This unanimous adoption of the IHRA definition sends a strong and clear message that antisemitism will not be tolerated in the City of Barrie and that you stand in solidarity with the city’s Jewish community."
Man Charged in Stabbing Death of Mosque Caretaker Followed Hate Group Online
According to reports, the man charged with stabbing a volunteer caretaker, Mohamed-Aslim Zafis, to death outside a mosque in Etobicoke had shared what appears to be content from a satanic neo-Nazi group in social media posts.
FSWC is saddened by and denounces this horrific attack that appears to have been motivated by hate and extremist views. We stand in solidarity with the Muslim community against hate and send our deepest condolences to Zafis's family for their tragic and sudden loss.
