Congratulations to Jagmeet Singh, New Leader of the Federal NDP

Toronto (October 2, 2017) - Friendsof Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) would like to offer its sincerecongratulations to Jagmeet Singh on winning the race for leadership of theFederal New Democratic Party. 

“FSWC looks forward to continuing to build a strongrelationship with the federal government and the new leadership of the NDP tohelp foster a society built on tolerance, acceptance, diversity and peacebetween people from all walks of life,” said FSWC President and CEO AviBenlolo.

FSWC is eager to find future opportunities to collaborate withthe NDP under Mr. Singh’s leadership as FSWC strives to work with all politicalparties to promote Canadian democratic values.

Last week while in Ottawa, FSWC was pleased to see the NDP take a stand against antisemitism. MP Murray Rankin, who co-chaired the FSWC reception on Parliament Hill, rose in the House of Commons to deliver a statement which called attention to the rise of antisemitism and hate across Canada and to urge "communities to show that love is greater than hate".
