Toronto (February 27, 2018) - Canadian Foreign AffairsMinister Chrystia Freeland today addressed the 5th Meeting of the 37th Regular Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. Minister Freelandspoke about Canada’s commitment to defending human rights around the world.
At the end of her statement,Minister Freeland touched on how the United Nations rose out of the ashes ofWWII and stated “It is worth recalling that that conflict saw the horrors ofthe Holocaust. The unspeakable tragedy of the Holocaust was enabled in part byantisemitism, which had endured on the European continent for generations.Those who do not remember history are indeed doomed to repeat it. So I wouldlike to be very clear – Canada does not tolerate antisemitism at any time andin any form.”
