February9, 2017 – Toronto: Friendsof Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) condemns the violent assault against theMazal Tov Kosher Restaurant in Windsor, Ontario on February 2, 2017.

Restaurant owner Mazal, who has been in the business for 19years, said she has never had an experience like this before. “It’s upsettingto see something like this and I really hope whoever did this will have thedecency to come here and talk to me. I will forgive him for what he did, but I wantto explain to him that living with hate is a lot more difficult than livingwith love.”

She also noted how supportive the Windsor community hasbeen. “It’s amazing how many people have stopped in to say they are sorry andthat they feel bad about what happened. That gives you strength.”

FSWC encouragesthe police to commit all resources necessary to finding the culprit whocommitted this deliberate and violent act, to prevent any further hate-basedviolent tragedies from happening anywhere in Canada.
