 February 24, 2017 – Toronto:
Friendsof Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is delighted to learn that Igor Sadikov, theMcGill student representative who advised his followers on social media to‘punch a Zionist’ and set off a firestorm of debate about antisemitism at theuniversity, has announced his resignation from the Student Society of McGillUniversity (SSMU) Board of Directors, citing pressure from the McGilladministration. 

His decision follows this week’s vote by the Arts Undergraduate Society (AUS) LegislativeCouncil not to remove him.

FSWC would like to thank all our friends and supporters – particularly thosewho signed our petition to McGill Principal and Vice-Chancellor Suzanne Fortierand Provost and Vice-PrincipalChristopher Manfredi, and to highlightthe importance of raising our collective voice in support of the rights of theJewish people.

The SSMU LegislativeCouncil will consider a motion to remove Sadikov at its March 9 meeting.
