Toronto (November 25, 2024) – Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) and Hillel Ontario are offering a new educational workshop for university and college leadership to tackle the growing scourge of antisemitism on Canadian campuses.

The two Toronto-based organizations announced the joint initiative to presidents of Canadian post-secondary institutions today in a letter highlighting pervasive antisemitism on campuses and its pernicious impact on not only the Jewish students but on the entire university community.

The workshop combines FSWC’s proven expertise in antisemitism education with Hillel Ontario’s acute understanding of the campus environment, providing a comprehensive, actionable approach to combat anti-Jewish hate on campus. The two-hour session equips university and college leaders with the relevant knowledge and practical tools needed to address antisemitism effectively and to foster a campus culture of inclusivity and respect for all students, regardless of background.

"Now more than ever, it's essential for university and college leaders to take proactive steps to deal with antisemitism and its toxicity afflicting students, faculty and other staff," said FSWC President and CEO Michael Levitt. "As key figures in shaping campus culture, the administration sets the tone for how these issues are handled at post-secondary institutions. By attending this workshop, they will be better equipped to address antisemitism and ensure that their campuses remain a welcoming and safe environment for everyone."
