Toronto (October 31, 2017) - Friends of SimonWiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) is pleased toannounce the launch of the National Resource Guidebook for Educatorsto be used in conjunction with the proposed Canadian Jewish HeritageMonth. As an annual event that isto take place throughout the month of May, Canadian Jewish Heritage Monthis intended to be a time to 'remember, celebrate and educate future generationsabout the inspirational role that Jewish Canadians have played and continue toplay in communities across this country'. This Guidebook, based on inputfrom community leaders and educators from coast to coast and designed to fitcurriculum objectives common across boards, will provide educators with thetools and resources they need to integrate activities into their classroom in ameaningful way.
"As an organization dedicated todelivering unique, innovative education programs that provide meaningful,authentic learning opportunities that confront hatred and intolerance tothousands of elementary and high school students, we are excited to offer thisGuidebook as an important resource to assist teachers in building onlessons they deliver every day in their own classrooms,” stated FSWC President& CEO Avi Benlolo. “Through its strong distribution channels with inaffiliate boards of education and through its daily visits to schools, FSWCwill be able to provide this useful tool to educators throughout the yearwell in advance of Canadian Jewish Heritage Month.”
The National Resource Guidebook for Educators is presently undergoing an editing process and will beofficially distributed at FSWC’s National Policy Conference On HolocaustEducation January 27-28, 2018 in Toronto. Community leaders and educators are invited to be part of this projectas we continue to build resources to deepen equity and inclusion for all bycontacting FSWC at the number listed below.
