Toronto (November 17, 2022) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) commends Vancouver City Council for adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism.
Yesterday, the majority of City Council voted in favour of a motion to adopt the IHRA definition, put forward by City Councillor Sarah Kirby-Yung.
“Vancouver City Council has sent a clear message to Jewish people in Vancouver and across Canada that antisemitism will not be tolerated,” said FSWC President and CEO Michael Levitt. “We are thankful to Councillor Sarah Kirby-Yung for putting this important motion forward as well as to Mayor Ken Sim and all city councillors who took a stand in solidarity with the Jewish community and have made a commitment to combatting all forms of Jew-hatred.”
