FSWC Celebrates Rosh Hashanah with Canadian Leaders

TORONTO (Monday, September 25, 2017) – This evening, FSWC is hosting MPs,senators, diplomats and staff for an all-party reception in honour of the HighHolidays on Parliament Hill. In partnership with MP Michael Levitt, MP DavidSweet and MP Murray Rankin, guests will “l’chaim” to a sweet and happy New Year.

To begin the day, FSWC President and CEO AviBenlolo is meeting with MP Michael Levitt, MP Ali Ehsassi, MP Marco Mendicinoand MP Bill Blair, as well as Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Immigration andCitizenship, and Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party. Thesemeetings include discussions about the rise in antisemitism, the Boycott,Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement and other issues facing the Jewishcommunity.

“As we enter into a new year, it is important toensure no time is wasted in countering antisemitism and hate. I thank the MPs,senators and diplomats for taking the time to meet with me today to tackle theseprominent issues,” said Avi Benlolo. “Tonight’s Rosh Hashanah reception cementsthe notion that Canadian leaders stand with the Jewish community and support theaction FSWC takes to promote the principles of tolerance and Canadiandemocratic values.”

FSWC regularly connects with and educates Canada’sleaders through events like Compassion to Action, Freedom Day and Spirit ofHope.
