The Israeli flag flew high throughout Toronto as communities celebrated Israel’s 69th Independence Day. Avi Benlolo, President and CEO of FSWC, marked the day by speaking and being part of the flag-raising ceremonies at Toronto City Hall, Vaughan City Hall and Markham Civic Centre.

“It is our 69th birthday, but this is an ancient land with a very ancient tradition and religion,” said Benlolo, speaking to a group of councillors, staff and the mayor of Markham. “The Jewish people have been indigenous to this land for well over 3000 years and beyond.”

Benlolo commended attendees for their support of the State of Israel and for continuing the flag-raising tradition.
