TORONTO (December 1, 2017) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) commends Canadafor taking a strong stand in support of Israel by voting against all sixanti-Israel resolutions that were approved yesterday by the UNGeneral Assembly.
Canada was just one of six countries that voted against a UNresolution that disavowed Israel’s ties to Jerusalem, which 151 countries votedin favour of.
“As countries continue to unjustly single out Israel at theUN, Canada must be commended for taking a stand against these biasedresolutions and showing its support for Israel – including recognizing thecountry’s ties to Jerusalem,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo.
Canada also opposed an anti-Israel resolution that condemnedsettlement activity and called on Israel to withdraw to the pre-1967 line, aswell as a resolution condemning Israel’s control over the Golan Heights.
