Toronto (August 8, 2018) -Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is expressing concern over a plannedhate rally to take place in Toronto on Saturday on the anniversary of lastyear’s antisemitic and hate-filled Charlottesville “Unite the Right” rally.
The rally is being organized bya Calgary-based group called the Worldwide Coalition Against Islam.
“The City ofToronto and the Province of Ontario has to take a hard look at policy regardingpublic space used by groups who are promoting divisiveness, hate andintolerance,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “In addition to thisgroup, our city space is being used annually by the ‘Al Quds Day’ rally whichpromotes antisemitism. So, there has to be an overall strategy over disallowinggroups that are spreading hate, instead of inclusivity."
