Toronto (November 20, 2018) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) condemns the Canadian Federation of Students’ (CFS) recent approval of a motion that reportedly calls for the organization to support the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement and oppose the “ongoing occupation of Palestine.”

The motion was passed yesterday during the CFS annual general meeting.

“While claiming to represent the voice of post-secondary students in Canada, CFS has approved a one-sided motion that promotes an antisemitic movement and goes against the voices of the many Jewish students the organization represents,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “The motion simply attacks Israel and fails to acknowledge the other side of the conflict – the Palestinian terrorism Israelis face every day. Instead, students should be taught to engage in meaningful discussions about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”

CFS reportedly also approved financial donations of up to $500 to pro-Palestinian organizations.
