Toronto (October 25, 2018) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) condemns the disturbing antisemitic graffiti discovered today at Bridlewood Community Elementary School in Kanata – the second antisemitic attack in three months involving swastikas spray painted on the school.

Ottawa police are investigating the incident.

“This is a clear act of hatred that deserves to be investigated as a hate crime,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “We are urging police to treat this crime as a serious offence and to take all the necessary steps to find the perpetrator. There is no room for such expressions of hate in our communities, especially at schools and other public spaces.”

FSWC has reached out to the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and the school offering educational programs to help rebuild the school community following the multiple incidents.

Through educational programs such as the Tour for Humanity, FSWC strives every day to educate young people and inspire them to stand up against hatred and intolerance.
