TORONTO (July 24, 2017) - Following a terror attack at the Temple Mount more than a week ago - which resulted in increased security measures in the area - Israel has been the target of numerous other attacks. Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) condemns these acts of violence against innocent civilians, and is calling on world leaders to support Israel during this time of unrest.
"The State of Israel - the only democratic country in the Middle East - has regularly and unfairly been the target of terror attacks, and it's time for people to stand up against the hate and violence that Israel has been facing for decades," said Avi Benlolo, FSWC President and CEO.
On Friday, a stabbing attack by a Palestinian - who had entered an Israeli family's home while they were having dinner - left three people dead and one critically wounded in the West Bank. Two days later, a security officer at the Israeli embassy in Jordan was stabbed with a screwdriver, the same day rockets had been fired towards Israel from Gaza.
Today another stabbing attack, this time in a city near Tel Aviv, left one Israeli injured.
Through advocacy and education, FSWC works every day to fight anti-Israel and antisemitic movements. FSWC's Tour for Humanity program educates youth about the impact of hate and intolerance, motivating them to promote peace in their communities and worldwide.
Avi Benlolo is available for interviews to provide his insight into the situation in Israel and the Middle East.
