FSWC Condemns Series of Hateful Graffiti Messages in Winnipeg

TORONTO(August 16, 2017)– Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is shocked following the discoveryof nearly a dozen of hateful graffiti messages in Winnipeg. The graffiti wasreportedly found as early as Sunday along Wellington Crescent, on an Omand Parktrail and in the West Broadway area.

Messagessuch as “Lost white civilizations” and “White extinction?” were found on atleast one bench and on pavement.

“Consideringthe situation in the U.S., as neo-Nazis and white supremacists are openlyexpressing hateful and antisemitic views, it’s extremely concerning to seethese views displayed here in Canada,” said Avi Benlolo, FSWC President andCEO.

This isthe second antisemitic graffiti incident in Manitoba FSWC has noted this year.In February, former cabinet minister Chris Melnick discovered a swastika in thesnow with the words “F--- Jews” scrawled.
