Toronto (December 13, 2018) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) condemns two terror attacks that took the lives of a newborn baby and two soldiers in Israel this week, and is calling on the Canadian government to continue standing with Israel and take measures to help combat this terrorism.
The first attack occurred on Sunday in the West Bank, where seven Israeli civilians – including a pregnant woman and her husband, who has dual Canadian-Israeli citizenship and has family living in Montreal – were wounded by gunfire shot from a passing Palestinian vehicle. The newborn baby, who was delivered prematurely, died yesterday.
Another shooting attack occurred today north of Jerusalem, where a Palestinian terrorist killed two IDF soldiers and injured two others.
“Terrorist attacks in North America and Europe are always met with worldwide condemnation, so terrorist attacks in Israel should not be treated any differently,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “It’s important for Canada and other countries to stand with Israel, the only country in the Middle East that is democratic and always striving for peace, and take measures that will help combat the terrorism Israeli civilians are faced with regularly.”
