Toronto (February 14, 2020) – Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) has demanded that McMaster University ban a student club from campus for promoting terrorism against Israel.

The McMaster club Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights is currently fundraising and promoting upcoming events for “Israeli Apartheid Week” using a graphic featuring Lela Khalid holding an AK47. Khalid is a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which is considered a terrorist organization by Canada, and was convicted for hijacking two civilian passenger planes full of Israelis with the use of guns and grenades.

“It is unconscionable that on a Canadian campus, a student group is openly promoting violence and terrorism against Israel,” said Avi Benlolo. “We demand that McMaster University takes immediate action to shut down this club and conduct a thorough investigation into the climate of antisemitism and hatred for Israel that been festering for too long on its campus that has brought us to this point.”

FSWC has reached to McMaster President David Farrar to communicate its demands and is awaiting a response from his office.
