TORONTO (November 9, 2017) - Flyers promoting the whitesupremacist Internet forum Stormfront were recently spotted in Burnaby, BC.Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) denounces these flyers and thegroup’s attempt at spreading its hateful message, and has reached out toBurnaby RCMP to alert them to this incident.
“These flyers have no place in Canadian cities where we celebratediversity and acceptance,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “It’s up tothe community to be vigilant in countering attempts by such groups to recruitpeople to their brand of intolerance and increase their visibility. Anyone whospots these or similar hate-inspired flyers should file a report with the localpolice.”
According to a Twitter user who posted an image of the flyer, theflyer was found outside a library. While Stormfront was shut down in thesummer, it has since gone back online providing an outlet for individuals topromote antisemitism, racism and other forms of hate.
White supremacist flyers have been spotted in cities acrossBritish Columbia over the past year, including in Vancouver, Victoria, Richmondand Abbotsford. Most recently, FSWC spoke out against antisemitic flyers thatwere posted at the University of Victoria.
