Toronto (August 15, 2018) -Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) disapproves of the inappropriate useof the National Holocaust Monument in Ottawa, which was recently used as a sitefor a fashion photo shoot.
“The creation of the monumentwas meant to provide a space for reflection on the Holocaust and rememberingthe six million Jews and many others who were murdered,” said FSWC Presidentand CEO Avi Benlolo. “This incident can be compared to the disrespectful‘selfies’ we’ve witnessed from people visiting Holocaust sites in Poland andGermany, trivializing such a tragic time in history. There are many otherlocations that would be more appropriate for a photo shoot.”
The photographer behind thephoto shoot reportedly stated that the project has been discontinued and allmaterials have been deleted.
