Today Tour for Humanity was at a Catholic secondary school in Hamilton where Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) Educator Daniella presented 4 workshops to Grade 10 students. Three participated in the Canadian Experience and one in the Global Perspectives workshop. Being very early in the semester Daniella wasn't sure where their knowledge level would be, but she was pleasantly surprised by how much they knew and were willing to share. Other teachers came on the bus in between classes to ask questions and often lament that their classes couldn’t also participate in the workshops. Daniella spoke with one teacher who currently teaches Grade 12 politics and law classes who was very interested in our FSWC workshops so she gave him our brochure and spoke about our workshops. He said he was so glad we were here and that the school should take further advantage of our workshops. Evidently they had a situation with a student last year who self-identified as a Neo-Nazi and tried to spread antisemitic propaganda to other students. The teacher did not elaborate, but said that the school administration dealt with the situation.
