Education Report

Today the Tour for Humanity was at a junior public school in Scarborough. Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) Educator Elena worked with the Grades 3-6 students, teaching 3 Simon's Story and one Canadian Experience program. The students and staff were a pleasure to work with. The students were very well behaved and absolutely loved being on the bus. The younger ones had a lot of fun guessing Elena's age and sharing lots of interesting family stories when Elena asked them who the heroes in their lives were. Elena heard stories about grandpas and great-grandpas fighting in World War II and a tough grandma who had grown up in poverty and raised 4 kids alone.  The Grade 6s had all read the book Hana's Suitcase and actually visited FSWC so Elena was able to quiz them a bit about Simon Wiesenthal's life. Their teacher seemed to have laid the groundwork very well.
