FSWC is horrified by the gas attack that occurred in Syriaearlier today, which has killed and wounded dozens of civilians – includingchildren. Considered one of the worst chemical attacks in Syria in years, theUnited Nations special envoy to Syria stated the attack came from anaircraft.

Western states are blaming the Syrian government, but theSyrian government is denying responsibility and claiming rebels are responsible.

“This is a very tragic event that shows complete disregardfor the lives of innocent people,” says Avi Benlolo, President and CEO of FSWC.“We expect the United Nations to carefully investigate this war crime andcharge the party that is responsible.”

In December, FSWC – which was joined by five Holocaustsurvivors – helda press conference to speak out against the atrocities that continue to becommitted in Syria.

“Duringthe Holocaust, not enough people spoke out. In fact, most people stood by insilence and let the genocide happen,” Benlolo said at the conference. “This iswhy we are pleading today for an immediate cessation of violence and hostilityin Syria.”

The U.N. Security Council is scheduled to meet on Wednesdayto discuss the incident.
