FSWC Horrified by Reports of Chemical Attack in Syria

TORONTO (April 9, 2018) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is horrified byreports that chemical weapons were used against civilians in Syria overthe weekend. The Assad regime, backed by Russia and Iran, is being blamed forthe assault.

FSWC is calling for a full investigation into the allegedattack and demands accountability for those responsible. The organization alsoechoes the Canadian government in its praise of medical workers andorganizations who are working to save innocent lives.  

“Chemical weapons attacks are an affront to civilizationand demonstrate a ruthless indifference for innocent lives,” saidFSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “We call on the international community tospeak with one voice in its condemnation of this atrocity.”

The United Nations Security Council has called an emergency session for Mondayafternoon.
