Friends ofSimon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) joins The Simon Wiesenthal Center incommending the U.S. for withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal.
On Tuesdayafternoon, President Donald Trump announced his decision to pull the U.S. outof the Obama-era agreement, adding his government will reimpose “the highestlevel of economic sanctions” againstIran and consider sanctions for any country that supports Iran’s nuclearambitions.
“Our organizationwas profoundly concerned at the outset of this deal which seemed focused onappeasement rather than containment of this dangerous regime,” said FSWCPresident and CEO Avi Benlolo. “We are pleased to see the current U.S.administration recognize Iran for what it is — a state-sponsor of terror andglobal menace that cannot be trusted.”
In pullingout of the accord, Trump said he will focus on establishing a “realcomprehensive and lasting solution to the Iranian threat.”
