Toronto (March 14, 2022) – Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) launched an Emergency Ukrainian Refugee Relief Fund today to help support Ukrainian refugees who have arrived in Poland amid Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
FSWC is partnering with JRoots, a Jewish organization helping refugees on the ground in Poland by providing housing and other necessities and working to bring some sense of normalcy to Ukrainian families who are suffering pain, loss and uncertainty.
Donations to the Emergency Ukrainian Refugee Relief Fund will go directly toward funding temporary housing for refugee families; providing essentials such as food and toiletries as well as items for children such as diapers, strollers and special treats; purchasing shoes for women and children; building a temporary relief centre that will include a daycare and toys for children; and packaging Passover boxes for Jewish families.
FSWC has begun outreach to its supporters and other community members, with the immediate goal of raising $50,000 for urgent humanitarian support for the more than one million Ukrainian refugees who have arrived in Poland and the many more who are arriving every day.
