TORONTO (May 8, 2018) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC)is pleased to learn that antisemitic graffiti in Burnaby has now been removed.
After reaching out to the BurnabyRCMP, FSWC confirmed that police attended the scene of the graffiti the sameday it was reported on April 28, 2018. The city was tasked with removing thegraffiti, but according to residents, it took around six days for the graffitito be removed. The city’s anti-graffiti department was reportedly unaware of the graffiti’s hateful nature until a residentfollowed up on the initial report.
The BC Hate Crime Unit has beenadvised of the incident.
FSWC reminds allcommunity members to be on alert for antisemitic graffiti and to thoroughlycommunicate this information to law enforcement and local officials.
