Toronto (April 11, 2018) - On YomHashoah, taking place April 11-12, Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) isspreading the message of Never Again to Toronto students by hosting two days ofworkshops with Holocaust survivors.
YomHashoah, also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day and largely observed by Jewishcommunities worldwide, is recognized as a day to commemorate the six millionJewish men, women and children who perished during the Holocaust.
“The bestway we can ensure a tragedy like the Holocaust never takes place again is byeducating young people about what led to the Holocaust and how we can learnfrom actions of the past to create a better future. As antisemitism and racismcontinues to be a recurring issue across Canada, Holocaust and human rightseducation remains a necessity,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “Manystudents are not aware of the day Yom Hashoah and what it stands for, so we andthe Holocaust survivors who are joining us are incorporating the important dayinto the Holocaust education being provided.”
Throughits Tour for Humanity and daily workshops delivered to students andprofessionals, as well as annual events such as Speakers Idol and Freedom Day,FSWC is a leader in delivering programs that inspire Canadians to raise theirvoices for freedom, democracy and human rights. Neverforgetme.cacontinues to provide testimony videos from Holocaust survivors, ensuring futuregenerations will always be aware of the horrific atrocities committed.
