Toronto (March 4, 2019) – Following the release of its petition calling on the University of Toronto to condemn BDS, which has so far garnered close to 1,000 signatures, Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is now pressuring the university to not permit a controversial speaker to lecture students on campus.

In a letter sent to University of Toronto President Meric Gertler, FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo points to numerous cases of antisemitism and anti-Israel bias in Toronto – including on the university’s campus – stating, “it still shocks me that under these circumstances, the University of Toronto is permitting controversial speaker Norman Finkelstein to lecture to its students on its own property in Mississauga.”

Finkelstein, an anti-Israel speaker who claims to specialize in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, is set to speak tomorrow evening at the university’s Mississauga campus.
