Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) supports the House of Commons Justice Committee’s decision to study how the Canadian Human Rights Act can be amended to stem the "propagation of hateful acts and incitement of hate."
The committee adopted a motion earlier today to move on to the study.
“Hate and intolerance are growing areas of concern around the world, including in Canada, that must be taken seriously and dealt with by our political leaders,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo. “As we witnessed just a few days ago in the New Zealand mass shooting that took the lives of dozens of innocent people, hate can turn into deadly violence. We cannot stand by idly and allow the same hateful acts to continue. Any step toward fighting hate is the right step.”
