Toronto (March 13, 2018) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) supports a recent statement released by Women’s March Canada condemning antisemitic remarks made by Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and any forms of hateful and discriminatory language.
The statement comes after the national co-president of the Women’s March in the US, Tamika Mallory, attended an event in February where Farrakhan made numerous statements attacking Jewish people. Mallory has openly supported Farrakhan, previously referring to Farrakhan as “the GOAT [Greatest of All Time]."
“As leaders of an organization that claims to stand up for human rights, there is not room for supporting any individuals who express hate and promote divisiveness,” said FSWC President and CEO Avi Benlolo.
FSWC had previously raised concerns when the federal NDP announced that Mallory would be speaking at the party’s 2018 convention.
